Why Munich
Munich is the capital of Bavaria and is one of Germany´s most popular destinations as it has a lot to offer. It is very green. There are over 20 big parks in the city. The English Garden is one of the biggest park areal in the world. You can actually take your surfboard and surf on the “Eisbachwelle” or rent a boat and row around the lake in the garden.
Munich also has a large international community and you hear many different languages while walking around in the streets.
Even though Munich is one of the largest cities in Germany it still seems rather small. It is even called “the great village”. Everything you need is at hand but you never get the feeling that you live in a big stressful city.
Due to its location near the alps, there are a whole bunch of outdoor activities you can do all year round. Go to the alps hiking, skiing, cycling or enjoy the beautiful Starnberger Lake. And of course, it also offers a great cultural variety with lots of museums and historic buildings and monuments.
The well-known Oktoberfest is the biggest beer festival in Germany, but it is worth to visit the “strong-beer” festivities during spring which began in the 17th century. This is where you´ll meet the locals.
